Terms of Service

Last updated: 11 April 2026  ·  Effective: 11 April 2026

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using inkode. By accessing or using our service you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Parties and Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and inkode ("inkode", "we", "us"), the operator of the website at https://inkode.co and the associated code quality scanning service.

By installing the ik CLI tool, submitting a scan, or otherwise accessing the service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms.

2. Description of the Service

inkode provides automated codebase quality analysis. The service comprises:

  • Free Scan — a self-service CLI scan that produces a brief automated report highlighting key risks.
  • Expert Review — a full consultant-authored code quality report, remediation roadmap, and a one-hour consultation call.
  • Ongoing — monthly automated scans, trend tracking across metrics, and priority support.

Service availability, features, and pricing may change over time. We will notify users of material changes via the website or email.

3. Account and API Key

Access to certain features may require an API key issued by inkode. You are responsible for:

  • keeping your API key confidential and not sharing it with third parties;
  • all activity that occurs under your API key;
  • notifying us immediately at hello@inkode.co if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. User Obligations

You agree that you will not:

  • submit code or data that you do not own or do not have the right to submit;
  • use the service to scan third-party codebases without authorisation;
  • attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API in a way that degrades service for other users;
  • use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law;
  • attempt to circumvent any rate limit, authentication mechanism, or other technical control.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights and permissions for any code you submit for scanning.

5. Data You Submit

You retain full ownership of your source code and any data you submit to inkode.

By submitting a scan you grant inkode a limited, non-exclusive licence to process the submitted data solely for the purpose of generating your quality report and providing the service. We do not use your code to train machine learning models or share it with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

We store only derived metrics and metadata — not your raw source files. See the Privacy Policy for full details on data retention.

6. Intellectual Property

Our IP: inkode, the ik CLI, the scanning engine, report formats, website content, and all related software are owned by inkode or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand assets without prior written consent.

Your IP: You retain all intellectual property rights in your source code and in the output reports generated for you.

7. Payment

The Free Scan tier is provided at no charge. Paid tiers (Expert Review, Ongoing) are subject to pricing communicated at the time of purchase. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. Applicable Hungarian and EU VAT rules apply.

Payment terms, refund policies, and invoicing details will be provided at checkout.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

inkode does not warrant that scan results are complete, error-free, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Scan results are advisory in nature — they are not a substitute for professional security auditing or legal advice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Hungarian and EU law, inkode's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to inkode in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 100 if no payments were made.

In no event shall inkode be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profit, data, or business opportunity, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the service, with reasonable notice where practicable.

Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hungary, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be submitted to good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent Hungarian courts. For disputes above the threshold set by the Hungarian Code of Civil Procedure (Pp.), the Fővárosi Törvényszék (Metropolitan Court of Budapest) shall have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, you may also bring a claim before the courts of your country of residence, in accordance with EU consumer protection rules.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes we will provide at least 14 days' notice via the website or email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
